Facebook is about to roll out a brand new feature - Facebook Graph Search. According to their CEO Mark Zuckerberg, it will form the third pillar of Facebook, the other two being the News Feed and the Timeline. When Timeline was released at the end of 2011, it revolutionised the way that business used Facebook and it's likely that Graph Search will have a similar impact.
Essentially it is a major upgrade of the search functionality in Facebook. Google lets you search the web, while Facebook Graph Search lets you search the social web. So, you could search for people who share your love of a particular music band or TV show or look for restaurants that your friends have checked in to.Business can use it to understand their customers much more deeply, to find out what's important to them and what their needs are.Graph Search is being rolled out to all users in the US initially and will be rolled out to the rest of the world sometime after that.
